Yeah, you read it right.  Here be your GUIDE TO THE FORUM.

STN-J's GUIDE TO THE UNIVERSE HARRY'S

Last Updated: July 29, 2006

1. Flaming: You can lightly flame in a thread but don't make direct attacks. Personal attacks that are obviously between friends joking around are allowed up to a point.

Please refrain from using racist, sexist, or other insults pertaining to sexual orientation or religion to slam someone. Derogatory comments about these topics will not be tolerated. Consider this your first and only warning; any instance of it will result in a ban.

Trolling is an automatic permanent ban. If you honestly feel the need to start some drama, go create a LiveJournal account and get your jollies creating fodder for sites such as LJDrama.org. It will not be tolerated here.

2. A double post is when you post once, realize you want to add more, and instead of using the Edit button you post again. Double posting is bad form and we don’t appreciate it here at Harry's. The edit button is given to you for a reason, please utilize it.

3. Necroposting: Necroposting is when you find a thread that has been inactive for a set amount of time and then post in it again. Anyone who brings a thread back to life on day 21 or later is necroposting. If you are confused what makes a necro, look at the date of the last post and add the number 21. If your calendar is on or past that date, it is a necro. An update by the original poster in the thread is not a necropost. The following threads are exempt from the necroposting rule:

* The Hello Thread (Dilemma)
* The Pictures Thread (Dilemma)
* The Absence Thread (Dilemma)
* So, Knaves (Dilemma)
* Official LiveJournal/DJ/GJ/Blog Thread  (Time to Say Goodbye)
* Spork Ninjas! (Time to Say Goodbye)
* What are you listening to? (Dancing in Darkness)
* Poetry fo' Shizzle (Dilemma)
* All Forums under Stubborn Aesthetics

4. Signatures: You are allowed to use images, varied-size font, and colored font in your signatures. However, we ask that you do not go "overboard" with any of the aforementioned features. Requests to edit signatures will be given by moderators if they feel yours is a bit too much. Accounts which ignore the requests will be notified to the administrator and edited or have their signatures removed.

5. Account Changes: If for whatever reason you would like to change your username (you want privacy, it happens) or there's something going awry with your forum account, please send myself (Kala) an email at orbo at vauss.com, or instant message me at:

* AIM - KalaMekiv
* MSN - send messages to paradox033@hotmail.com
* Y!M - wingzeroelite (state in the add request that you need my help or whatever, otherwise I'll ignore you.)

IM IS THE FASTEST AND BEST WAY TO CONTACT ME FOR USERNAME CHANGES OR PASSWORD HELP. The global moderators and moderators cannot, do not have the ability to, and will not do this for you.

6. Excessive use of leet speak and internet/IM shorthand (R u going 2night?) are not allowed. We're not asking you to write a formal paper here, but please try to be sensible about spelling, vocabulary, and grammar when posting. A little of it is fine as a joke, but don't compose entire paragraphs with it.

7. Advertising: Posting an advertisement in any forum outside of "Time to Say Goodbye", "Time to Tell", or "Precious Illusions" will land you a warning from moderators and the topic moved to the appropriate forum, at the minimum. If it is blatantly obvious you joined to spamvertise because you're too lazy to learn how to add your piece of the intarweb onto a search engine, it is an automatic permaban. This includes creating accounts for the sole purpose of spamvertising your site/whatever in PMs to members.

8. Plagiarism/Theft: The definition of plagiarism is "taking someone's words or ideas as if they were your own." (source: dictionary.com) This pertains mainly to fanfiction published on the internet and fanart from various art galleries (DeviantArt, SheezyArt, etc). If anyone is found to be posting fanfiction/fanart that is plagiarized or stolen and it is reported to the moderators, the threads/links will be deleted. If it is repeated, the account will be banned. EXCEPTION: Fanfiction posted in the "Spork Ninjas" thread, unless the original fanfiction has not been given the proper credits.

9. Posting Images: Please, please, please, please, PLEASE do not hotlink to images from sites that do not belong to you. Many images are hosted on webspace that people pay for, and when you hotlink images from their sites to show people here, you are eating up their bandwidth everytime someone views the page which ends up costing them more money should they exceed their allotted bandwidth for the month. For a clearer explanation, visit Animetique's page on hotlinking. If any moderator or myself is notified by a webmaster that people are hotlinking images from their site onto here, the threads where the hotlinking occurred will be edited/deleted at our discretion. Repeat offenses will result in a ban. If you want to share images, upload them to Photobucket or something and link from THERE onto the forum.

Avatars: You are allowed to use avatars that are 100x100 pixels large with a 50KB filesize and upload them onto the forum through "Profile" --> "Forum Profile Information." There is no need to hotlink avatars from any graphics site that you do not own. Accounts found doing so shall be have the avatar removed, and repeat offenses will result in a ban and/or deletion of your account.

Webmasters: If there are threads in this forum where your artwork/images have been hotlinked, please email me at orbo at vauss.com with the URLs where the hotlinking is occurring, or notify me via IM (see rule 5 for handles).

10. Language: Most of you are adults, or very soon to be "adults." A little cursing here and there is fine, a little innuendo here and there is fine. But please do not get overly graphic or drop the F-bomb in every sentence. Be mature. If you really need to get disgusting/rude, take it to PMs or elsewhere.

11. Series Info/Spoilers: Witch Hunter Robin has been out for nearly four years now. You are more than likely going to find spoilers in here. Consider yourself warned. Feel free to discuss various aspects of the series in the appropriate forums.  If there's a blatantly obvious spoiler that you need to post, use the spoiler tags, as shown below:

Code:
[spoiler]<insert spoiler here>[/spoiler]

12. Most importantly, have fun! :)

It's all good. It's been over 320 years since your ancestors sank the coven into the dark. That's not evil, that's a worthwhile accomplishment.
