Amon's last name?

so, i don't know if anybody has ever posted this question before, but i am a total noob (just signed up yesterday, relatively new to the fandom, totally obsessed, hi every body, yay, *waves arms frantically*) but it drives me crazy, so i will ask.

WHAT IS AMON'S LAST NAME!?

His last name is never mentioned in the series. Everyone else has a known last name except for Amon, and it is obviously not Nagira...is it?

So, for the sake of giving him a last name that is half decent for a fanfic i'm writing, what do you think his last name should be? or do you know what it is? does he have no last name, and only has a first name, like Cher? Since his first name is so unorthodox, should his last me also be something very obscure and non-Japanese-y?

I'm going to quote TVTropes on this. "Amon. Is it his first name? Is it his last name? Is it an alias? It's all you're getting."

As far as his last name not being Nagira: from what I've been able to pick up, Amon's mother was never married to his father, so he would have her last name. What THAT is, however, no one's puzzled out. ...In fact, I've yet to puzzle out how his name has Kanji.

Anyway, you've got an open slate as far as a last name. I'd recommend something Eastern European, possibly Mediterranean or even Middle Eastern (Amon is an Ancient Egyptian God). It would probably be a safe bet to go with a common last name from whichever region (Meris chose 'Novotne', which if I remember correctly is fairly common) if you could find such statistics. 

There are ways around giving him a definitive last name, if it becomes too much of a hassle. For instance, if Amon, himself, is revealing his name, you could even have him give different names to different people depending on the situation. Or, if the name is being spoken, he could cut off whoever it is about to reveal it.

I realize that I'm not being very helpful, but really, he's almost infuriatingly mysterious and it's difficult to even find somewhere to begin in giving him a last name.

At any rate, I'd be interested in reading this fic, or even beta-reading this fic. And it's always great to have someone new to talk with on the board.

oooh, yay, a friend!!

you can betta read the prologue and chapter 1, which is all i have finished right now. Second chapter is taking me some time cause i had written it already but then decided to cut off a part of the story that was the bulk of that chapter, so i started it again from scratch and its looking kinda patchy right now. Anyhoo! on to the last name part.

I'm going to have him using a fake last name which will be changing every so often, to the annoyance of a certain witch girl who lives with a man who's real last name she doesn't even know, and I wanted to make them believable ethnic wise, cause as far as we know despite the egyptianness, Amon is Japanese, so would other ppl buy the name on his fake ID if its "Amon Abdhul Hussein Mohhamed"? But i had also wanted his mother to have come from a wealthy foreign family who settled in japan as diplomats from whatever country i choose them from, which would leave some space open for ethnically diverse lastnames...

this is my first fic ever and it is a massive one and all the details are driving me crazy!!

Well, given that we somehow majicked up 116 people at some point today...Or yesterday, I'm not sure...

Anyway. Yeah, fics can be very, very evil with getting written. I'm writing a collection right now and I've got some stories that are a line...Some that are a scene...Some that are almost done but refuse to be finished. Ack.

And the fake name definitely sounds like something he'd do.

Awesome. I'll get right on beta-ing those. It's a long weekend, so I should have them back to you fairly quickly.

Question, though: on the oneshot, it cuts off in the middle of a sentence on page twelve. Just wondering if that's where it's meant to cut or if I have an older version or if my computer is being stupid again.

This forum's been online for nearly seven years. Those are likely just Googlebots making those hits.
